What’s the Difference between Microneedling and Cosmetic Acupuncture?
MIcroneedling
Microneedling is powerful treatment for regenerating the surface layer (the skin), revealing smoother, plumper, tighter skin. Microneedling dramatically increases collagen production (400-1000x in several sessions) as well as elastin, which results in more toned, youthful skin overall. It is an effective treatment for fine lines, acne scars, hyperpigmentation, skin texture, pore size, loose, crepey skin, and stretch marks. It is treating the skin primarily.
Deeper patterns (like deep wrinkles, sagging, and puffiness) impacted by musculature tension, stagnant blood flow and lymph are best addressed by a combination of microneedling and cosmetic acupuncture, so that both the skin and the scaffolding are addressed.
Cosmetic Facial Acupuncture
Cosmetic facial acupuncture is a holistic treatment that works with the deeper scaffolding of the face and body. Cosmetic acupuncture can transform tension and stagnation in the muscles and fascia that underlie wrinkles, sagging, and puffiness. Botox and similar injectables aim to paralyze muscles with the idea that tension patterns underlie the formation of deep wrinkles, fine lines, sagging, and puffiness. Cosmetic acupuncture does not paralyze muscles, but it does soften tension in the facial muscles and resets tension patterns in the musculature, resulting in a similar, but more natural effect. Cosmetic acupuncture also increases circulation, stimulates lymph flow, and directs the body’s healing capacity to specific areas to plump, fill in, soften, and de-puff. Cosmetic acupuncture treatments will also include body acupuncture points to balance constitution, support the nervous system for deep relaxation and overall health.
